Android Download Mode – What is it and how to access

What is the Download Mode Android?

The Download Mode This is a special mode in some Android smartphones, including Samsung and LG. The download mode is used to interface the device to the PC and through special software to flash the system ROM. For Roma in this case it means the firmware of the device, while the term “flash” identifies the delete operation and rewriting on your smartphone’s memory (flash type in fact). In Samsung it is also often called Odin Mode, the name of the home Samsung ODIN software used for the flash memory.

This mode is used by the assistance center in the case of “brick” software, to revive smartphone blocked or that do not light. Sometimes as a result of serious problems the device may get stuck in download mode or recovery mode. In the worst cases even download mode and manual flash firmware can solve the problem; in such situations the only remedy is to assist with the replacement of the motherboard.

What is it?

As anticipated, the download mode is used for manual flash Android smartphone’s firmware.

This is necessary in some specific cases, such as:

  • Phone locked in recovery mode or download mode and the system does not start normally.
  • System update not been successful or corrupted.
  • Downgrading to an older version of the firmware.
  • Installing Rom Change such as CyanogenMod.

In some situations, the only way to reset your phone is to reload the firmware again. To do this in addition to the specific software, of course you need to have the Roma suited to load.

Flashing a smartphone is a very delicate operation and if not performed properly or interrupted way, could cause damage to the device and make it unusable. If you are an experienced user or are not interested in installing the Custom ROM, you will hardly get into download mode.

Warning: Manually flash the firmware of the device, it voids the warranty if still present.
